Healing Prayer -- integral to the Sunday service
Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord… pray for one another, so that you may be healed (James 5: 13-16).
Healing prayer is an integral part of the Sunday service. Gathered in the chapel during Communion, lay ministers welcome petitioners seeking prayers for themselves or others. The support of the entire church community is witnessed through the laying on of hands in the healing rite of intercession. Both ministers and petitioner share the presence of the Spirit in this profound and moving practice.
